Dr. Christine Blume

Dr. Christine Blume is a sleep researcher with a doctorate in psychology. She studied in Würzburg and Cambridge (UK) before completing her PhD in Salzburg. Currently based at the University of Basel, her research explores how modern societal factors—such as light, temperature, and movement—affect sleep. She has successfully secured multiple research grants from national funding bodies (FWF, SNF) and other institutions. Her work has earned several awards for both research and science communication. From 2018 to 2023, she was a regular expert on Deutschlandfunk Nova, where she discovered her passion for radio. Since May 2023, she has co-hosted the award-winning podcast Über Schlafen. She is also a sought-after expert for radio, print, and television, appearing on programmes such as the Terra X Show, ARD Buffet, and Odysso.
