What to expect from the course

As science communication becomes increasingly important, the question of its effectiveness is gaining more attention: Are we truly reaching our target audience, and are our projects achieving the desired outcomes? In our “Evaluation of Science Communication” format, participants will learn the fundamental principles of planning and conducting their own evaluation projects. They will discover key methods for collecting evaluation data and receive practical advice for successfully implementing evaluations.

Thematic foci

  • Reasons for and functions of evaluations
  • Impact/logic chart with definitions of objectives, target groups and indicators as a basis for evaluation planning
  • Development of an evaluation and survey design (formative/summative; qualitative/quantitative; hypothesis-driven/explorative)
  • Evaluation methods: Questionnaire, interview, observation, usage data analysis, etc.
  • Implementation of evaluations in practice
